Spring is in the air

April 1, 2018

Woohoo – spring is in the air and the sneachta is in retreat (we hope!). So with that said, what flowers can we expect to see our spring brides wearing & bearing? Spring is all about colour, so whether you keep it calm and pastel or go for a more striking look, for springtime weddings you have plenty of options.

Hellebores, fritillaries, anemones, muscari, hyacinths and narcissi, come in a variety of colours and can suit many different styles of wedding. You can mix them together or use one type of bloom in different colours for a striking impact.

From April on, when spring is well underway there’s even more choice: tulips, ranunculus, hyacinths, guelder-rose, lilac, blossom branches, lily of the valley, bluebells and irises are all blooming beautifully.

Boho brides might consider romantic whimsical-style arrangements in muted colour palettes. Consider using muscari, white tulips, lily of the valley and some lush greenery. Mix them with soft old style white roses for a romantic, whimsical vibe.

If you’re after a little more pop, colour and brightness, then spice up your bridal bouquet with tulips, iris and hyacinths together with a little eucalyptus.

How about trying something a little different with your table decorations? Plant bulbs in glass bowls and vases and surround with moss for a rustic look. Or if you want a big impact, try filling large galvanised buckets, vintage milk churns or even elegant urns with large branches of blossoms.

Spring is the perfect time of year to embrace your inner floral self and let it run free and we have the blooms to match your spring fever. Drop us a line at Grá Mór Designs and tell us what your favourite spring blooms are - we'd love to hear from you.
